Critical look at systems
Through my studies in the Humanities, I learned how people, social systems and culture influence each other. In Oxford I collaborated on research in Psychiatry and mental health. I saw up close how systemic issues within the British NHS have a major impact on patients and healthcare professionals. For my PhD, I conducted further research into systems, including examination of colonialism and intercultural encounters. Digging through colonial archives and interviewing indigenous people in traditional corners of Indonesia strengthened my critical thinking and showed me the value of varying perspectives.
From analysis to social impact
Although academic research was intellectually stimulating, I realised that I missed a more direct social impact. The need to generate visible change with my analyses brought me to consulting. At Gupta, I found an inspiring environment with interesting colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Now I use my analytical skills and critical thinking to contribute to better and sustainable healthcare in the Netherlands.
