A new future perspective
Hospital care in the region is under pressure. Workload is high, waiting times are long, and the expectation is that the situation will only become more acute. The hospitals and large health insurers in the region want to join forces and set up care for the future together.
A close interplay between solid analysis and attention to governance complexity
In this project we combined clear facts with sensitivity to individual interests. We formed a core team made up of hospital executives, doctors and a delegation of the health insurers. Everyone in the core team voiced their commitment to working toward a future scenario together.
We started with one-on-one conversations with the core team parties, their partners along the care chain and other people involved in the region, in order to properly understand the challenges and everyone’s needs. With this input we drew up, together with the core team, a broad set of future scenarios to explore all relevant options. We also produced a balanced and broadly supported assessment framework to evaluate the scenarios, looking at, among other things, impact on travel time, on-call burden and cost.
Using analyses and interviews, we compared the scenarios objectively against the criteria of the assessment framework. We took the time to work through the results with the core team and reach a shared understanding of the content. Through one-on-one conversations about each party’s interests and preferences, and joint core-team meetings, we helped the parties arrive at a shared preferred scenario: this is the one we want to go for together.
